I like to cut down most of my plywood at the beginning so as I’m building, I can have all my pieces already cut, sanded and prepped, ready for assembly. It’s also formaldehyde free, made in the USA and Canada and available at The Home Depot. And I hate painting anything, so whatever makes it easier for me is a winner in my book. There are several reasons, but the top two are that it’s a great high quality hardwood plywood that will hold up well over time, and it finishes awesome whether painted or stained-as you can see in this project. And I always recommend PureBond plywood for any furniture project-even if you are painting it. People always ask me what type of plywood I recommend using for various projects. The first thing I did here was start cutting down my plywood. Kreg Rip Cut and AccuCut Cut Down Your Plywood You can find the full materials and cut list in the downloadable plans, but here is a quick breakdown of what you’ll need for this project:ġ6″ Liberty Hardware Ball Bearing Soft Close Drawer Slidesīase Cap, Casement, Cove, Half Round Molding So, if you’re ready to get building, let’s do it. So, what else is different about this post? Well, I’ve finally learned how to draw downloadable plans and you can find the printable PDF plans to this build here! Bout time, right? I hope to start posting some more plans as I have the time to draw them.īut, if you’re like me, and you prefer a good old fashioned tutorial instead, I’ve still got that and an awesome video for you right here. It’s also what keeps you from having to pay for a gym membership…but more on that later. But the trim is the cherry on top-it’s what catches your eye. I used PureBond plywoodas the meat and potatoes of the build-it’s what makes up the structure of the desk and the drawers. I didn’t have a good place to stage it in our tiny garage apartment, so just use your imagination with me haha. It’s designed to sit in the middle of a room if you prefer as the front is trimmed out as well as the sides, but it also works well against a wall, too. It’s got TONS of storage with 9 drawers total, and you can customize the trim details and the foot styles however you wish. And while I personally love that style, every now and then it’s really fun to dress up a piece of furniture with some fancy trim for a more traditional look-because not everyone likes things as plain as I do haha. No fancy molding, just clean straight lines. (Like these closet cabinets, kitchen cabinets, and stacked shelf). Well, if you’ve noticed, lately, I’ve been building lots of pieces with a simple, modern feel. I’m partnering up with PureBond Plywood to share how I built this beautiful traditional style DIY storage desk!

They also have the version which works better with android devices, although to be honest, they still work best with iOS. Radius networks also has interesting devices and a good SDK especially if you want to write your own code. But that requires at least three Ibeacons for each region, and just gets quite expensive for home automation. But I single I pbeacon just can’t identify a person walking into A room, because its detection zone is not stopped by the walls.Įstimote has an excellent microlocation system which is generally sold to stores and Sporting arenas, so that you could, for example, send someone one coupon if they are in the men’s department and a different coupon if they are in the shoes department next to it. They make good touchless switches if you set the range very small, like around foot. The kitchen and a living room right next to it will be seen as the same- and so will the bedroom one floor up. There’s no concept of a “room” as a human defines it. That’s because they are based on Bluetooth, which goes right through the walls (and the floor and the ceiling). So a single Ibeacon is very good as an identifier for when a phone or tablet comes within a 360 degree range of that beacon.īut they aren’t going to work for Microlocation based on rooms or interiors very well unless you spend a lot more money and get a much more complex app. It’s quite easy to integrate them with SmartThings if you use a receiving station app which can generate an HTTP post ( webhook) as then you can use the IFTTT maker channel as the “if” and smartthings as the “that”. I have used them in my house for about two years, as I have discussed in the forums. Assuming you mean Ibeacons, I would say they work very well for the purpose for which they are designed. To date, over 137 million controlled dangerous substance, human growth hormone and gabapentin prescriptions have been entered into the NJPMP from more than 3,300 New Jersey licensed pharmacies. Since the NJPMP began operating in 2011, a total of 53,259 prescribers and 8,137 pharmacists have registered for access to the NJPMP, representing approximately 97 percent of eligible prescribers. The monitoring program allows healthcare professionals to see a patient’s prescription drug history with the aim of improving overall prescribing practices and reducing the risk of potential abuse or fraud by patients who obtain prescriptions from multiple providers. The NJPMP, within the Division of Consumer Affairs (the “Division”), is an electronic database that collects information from pharmacies on the dispensing of controlled dangerous substances, like opioids, to individual patients. EHR integration improves ease of access and increases utilization of the NJPMP so that healthcare providers can make the best data-informed treatment decisions for their patients. Those funds will be used to support the NJPMP’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) integration. This is in addition to the $972,426 in opioid settlement funds provided by Governor Murphy for the NJPMP. Levy, Acting Director, Office of the New Jersey Coordinator for Addiction Response and Enforcement Strategies (NJCARES), today announced that the New Jersey Prescription Monitoring Program (“NJPMP”) was awarded $1.4 million in competitive federal funding from the FY22 Harold Rogers Prescription Drug Monitoring Program to enhance the State’s existing program that helps prescribers monitor patient use of opioid painkillers and other controlled drugs that can lead to addiction and fatal overdoses. I just read about the new Huawei Phone that shows China has raided all the tech from inside SoCs like A series chips. But keep our technology out of their hands. If China wants to make fake NFL jerseys and rubber fart bags, let them at it. Tim and all these other executives that shipped all US technology to China didn’t care about anything but money. And I will gladly pay another $1k if it’s made in the free world and an extra $1k if it’s Made in USA. Give it a 5,000 MaH battery and how about make the sides flush with back camera bezels like Jon Prosser said was happening like two years ago. Here’s the thing, let me pay an extra $1k and give me things like FaceID under the screen, 16GB RAM and 2TB SSD, and a damned SIM card slot or two and still have eSIM with up to ten spaces to reserve eSIM. Says it’s $100 more expensive and this made me think what if Apple isn’t raising the prices at all? iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max stay the same but Ultra comes in $100 more for those couple of upgrades. It goes on to say the Pro models get 6GB RAM and up to 1TB of SSD while Ultra gets 8GB of RAM and up to 2TB SSD. So three iPhones getting that means iPhone Pro, iPhone Pro Max and iPhone Ultra. Nobody mentioned it on here, but it sure doesn’t make sense for an iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Plus to get USBC Thunderbolt 4 speeds. I thought I remember reading on MacRumors that there were set to be three iPhone 15 models getting USBC 4 Thunderbolt speeds, and now that makes so much sense now with this info. There was a rumor over the weekend of an iPhone Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Ultra. For those unable to watch, MacRumors will be providing full event coverage on and the MacRumorsLive Twitter account. Apple plans to stream the fall event live on its website, on YouTube, and through the Apple TV app. IOS 17 and iPadOS 17 will likely appear shortly after the iPhone 15 series is announced during Apple's "Wonderlust" event on Tuesday, September 12. The decision to release its iPad software until later in the fall was to allow it more time to refine Stage Manager, its then-new app window management system, which was subject to much criticism in the beta development phase. Last year, Apple released iPadOS 16 on October 24, over a month after iOS 16 officially went public. The eighth beta versions were released to developers and public beta testers last week, hot on the heels of the sixth and seventh betas, indicating that Apple is fast approaching the final hurdle as it prepares to install iOS 17 on iPhone 15 models coming off the assembly line. The well-connected reporter's sources within Apple tell him the company is considering the eighth betas of iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 to be the final versions in all but name, "barring any unforeseen circumstances." That's according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. Apple is expected to release major software updates for iPhones and iPads simultaneously this month, unlike last year's staggered release of iOS 16 and iPadOS 16. Active commenters are loud jackasses who tumble into one internet fight after another, anxiously keeping ten tabs open to ensure they keep the last word in all of them. Nobody is interested in the truth people are battling for fleeting moments of superiority. Posters do not engage one another on key points, they nitpick with greentext and mock each other. Next few months will probably be gradually up for the most part and then retail will get over their fear and start buying back in and boom a bunch of new all-time highs by the middle of the year. This site has nothing to offer anybody. Buying is low temporarily but supply is even lower and there's a lot of money sitting on the side right now just waiting to want to feel safe to come in. But even before that there's a lot of people that just hold short-term positions in bitcoin/crypto and they're going to start coming back into the market now that the price is leveled out and gradually rising, and they realize it's not going to drop to like 15k like a lot of them thought. Once retail stops being afraid of everything economy related, when they come back Bitcoin is going to rocket upwards by tens of thousands of dollars. Bitcoin is in an incredibly strong position right now. This has led to l price going down even though supply is getting eaten up. Meanwhile retail and short-term investors have been dumping everything they have the past two or three months. Just as she says, Bitcoin supply is very tight right now, cuz Bitcoin holders have been accumulating since July regardless of price going up or down. Whenever I listen to Lynn Alden she proves herself to be the smartest analyst at there. Now there is a ton of manipulation in the gold market since governments starting allowing derivatives to be used but it is still concerning to see it losing real value when inflation adjusted. Oddly enough gold is flat over the last decade. If you zoom out you will see that BTC and the purchasing power of the dollar are on very different planes on a graph. Which is in line with what we have seen in the tech high fliers. The dollar is still the dollar, it is just worth more or less than another currency.įor Guy Whitehead, the major driver in the lower price of BTC was a flight to more risk-off assets. It is why you hear that the dollar is "up" or "down". That should be a very alarming sign.Īlso BTC is not stated in dollars for anyone other than Americans. This is why you are seeing things like Blackrock buying real estate. This further compounds because there is actually a disincentive to NOT spend dollars on some sort of hard asset because if is quickly losing purchasing power. So essentially a double whammy to keeping cash of any sort. She is referring to BTC being a scarce asset with a fixed supply while FIAT currency, in this case the dollar, is being inflated away while yields are near zero. Meanwhile, bitcoin ( BTC-USD +0.8%) is consolidating to $38.8K per token after reaching as high as $39.2K earlier on That is not what she is stating. Note that bitcoin historically also tends to perform well in times of economic growth, and vice versa, Alden added. This dynamic supports Alden's bullish long-term prospects for bitcoin ( BTC-USD). dollar - the world reserve currency - investors may gain interest on digital assets as inflation destroys the purchasing power of fiat currencies. With currency depreciation taking hold, especially with regards to the U.S. Moreover, Alden noted that the current environment of historically low interest rates and surging inflation can persist throughout the rest of the decade. "It is basically a structural way of holding something that has intrinsic scarcity, compared to something that is instrinsically not scarce for which the yields are no longer keeping up with inflation," she added. īitcoin ( BTC-USD) "doesn't necessarily hedge you the moment you get different CPI prints, the founder of Lyn Alden Investment Strategy told Saylor. While Bitcoin ( BTC-USD) has lost nearly half of its value from the mid-November peak, Global Macro Strategist Lyn Alden, on Tuesday said there is weak demand for bitcoin, but the tight coin supply remains a bullish factor, she told MicroStrategy (NASDAQ: MSTR) CEO Michael Saylor at the MicroStrategy World Event. To use, simply pour the decanter cleaning balls into a container with water and rotate to remove hard-to-reach stains. This brush uses soft, compact foam to gently clean and never chip, break or. The reinforced foam bristles and shinny balls ensure that your glassware is cleaned without any damage. Fine crystal and glassware often lose clarity and beauty without proper cleaning. This is how I originally learned about this product. This wine decanter cleaning brush set includes 3 sizes of foam brushes and 150 decanter cleaning balls. This flexible brush will accommodate any shaped wine decanter. (Which does require the removal of the panel but all of mine were installed so the piece could be removed for cleaning. Suitable for All Glassware Perfect for wine decanters, long neck goblets, drinking bottles, baby bottles and many more Equipped with Reinforced Foam Bristles. The glass I used was German water-white, which has a high lead content and does become "fogged" after years of exposure. I was also a glass artist for many years and did engraving in glass and did many flat, beveled-edge, panels for installation in windows that are exposed to the elements. I have a lot of antique cut crystal, Waterford, etc., Fostoria and other American made glass from the last half of the 19th and first half of the 20th centuries and I have tried just about everything and this works best. That brings us to the multiplayer modes, which are now up and running after being mostly disabled at launch. There’s no shortage of things to do, and it’s kept me busy for upwards of 30 hours. There are loads of those side activities, including races, being an Uber driver (called Driver San Francisco, a clever reference to one of Ubisoft’s older games) plus lots of areas that are patrolled by guards with stashes of cash. The only frustrating part is spending 10 minutes looking for a solution before realizing it requires an upgrade you don’t have yet. I’ve spent easily as much time with these puzzles as I have with action. Most of them require the use of your drones, so you have to think about what tool is best for the job. Upgrade points and other useful items are stashed in generally high locations that can only be reached by finding a way to climb up, and with power-flow puzzles that appear overlaid on the world. Outside of combat there’s a huge emphasis on environmental puzzle solving, and many are well done. But given the potential for replayability, it’s disappointing there’s no way to revisit an early mission without starting a new game. That freedom feels great, and is reminiscent of the Gang Hideout missions of the first Watch Dogs, which were by far my favorite part of that game. Usually I’ve seen at least two or three means of reaching the target by stealth using your drones, or if you decide to go in loud you can approach from any direction. In most you’re pointed to a fortified objective, such as a movie studio or the headquarters of a Google-like company, and are free to go about it however you want. The vast majority take place out in the open world instead of a linear “dungeon” area. Missions themselves are strong and refreshing in their flexibility, however. I could also do without the frequent garish, meme-laden Dedsec propaganda videos about your exploits. These people are cartoonish, but they don’t seem to know they’re in a spoof. Since they’re only loosely in cahoots with the big bad guy (an effectively menacing man-bun wearing tech bro) and the goal is to gain attention for Dedsec (there’s actually a decent reason for that), it feels almost Saints Row The Third-like in its self-aggrandizing pranks, but without the same self-awareness of the characters. In the first few missions you go after stand-ins for universally loathed pharmaceutical executive Martin Shkreli and the Church of Scientology by way of sabotaging a hacker-themed movie. Robot, and because of that a lot of the objectives come off as gleeful petty vandalism (with optional murder) instead of righteous vigilantism. This is much more brash and punk version of hacker life than the conceptually similar TV show, Mr. Over time, the whole hacker-movie tone becomes a little obnoxious. For Hacking's Sake It feels almost Saints Row The Third-like in its self-aggrandizing pranks. The PS4 Pro handles the frame rate much better, though other than that the visual differences aren’t striking. It’s playable, but if you’re sensitive to frame rate issues you will probably not be happy with that performance. In addition to occasional noticeable dips when just walking and looking around, when you’re driving fast through a busy area like North Beach and swinging the camera around, Watch Dogs 2 can get pretty chuggy. On the other hand, those high-speed chases highlight how the frame rate on PS4 and Xbox One is not especially good. The seats in isolation looked great, but that same leather on the door panels looked odd next to the black door panels. While Nappa brown leather is great, brown leather that is nearly black next to materials that actually are black is not a good look. In fact, the worst part about the CX-5 Signature interior was the not the quality of the material, but the color. After day one I would have said the materials were weak but as the week went by, I came to appreciate the materials for the $40,000 car it was. The replaced an $101,905 Lexus LS500 and that kind of set a very hard to meet standard. The interior of the CX-5 was probably the hardest thing to judge. This has been to go to version or automotive journalists and unless you are willing to spend the extra $5000, the non-turbo engine will do you just fine. It’s fun to have, it unnecessary in this market as the 187 horsepower model has been ample for years. The 250 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. It is something that makes them more safe, and that is always something non-car people are willing to chase. For the normal driver trying to get somewhere quick, this would be perfect. Even when the car tried to get loose, the front end brought it back around very quickly. The CX-5 handled everything I could throw at it without care. While most cars are good to drive these days, the Mazda CX-5 remains up there. Nearly every automobile has been decent to drive, nearly every car I have driven I can consider good at least. When a vehicle feels like pure jello to drive, no one really wants to drive it. While 99% of people act like they don’t care about how their vehicle drives, it’s a lie. Design is not the only thing helping the CX-5.įor the price, not many comparable vehicles can match the driving dynamics of the Mazda. While on the smaller side for the SUV, it gives of the Jaguar F-Type and F-Pace vibe which is one of the better compliments you can give a car. Nearly every design cue can be found on every other Mazda in the lineup with the taillights being one of my favorites. This is rare but appreciated among automotive journalists. It’s aggressive, while not being extreme. There is nothing in the market that even comes close to appearance. To start with, the CX-5 is one of the best looking vehicles in its class. I’ve often wondered if it was a good answer, and after a week with the car, I will definitely say it is up there. Regardless, the answer most often given is the Mazda CX-5. Not because we don’t like talking about cars, but that the answer provided is usually ignored and someone ends up buying the car they wanted and not liking it. Automotive journalists are often asked “What car should I buy?” Being asked what car to buy is probably the worst part about being an automotive journalists though. |
